Canadian painter Chris Willcox was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario.  In 1989, she received her AOCA from the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto. In 1992, she got her BA with honors in Fine Art from the University of Guelph in Ontario. In 1998, Willcox earned her MFA, Summa Cum Laude, from Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey.  Willcox moved to the Twin Cities in 2000 to accept a position at Macalester College in St. Paul, where she is Associate Professor of Art teaching painting as well as Women in Art.  She has shown her work at galleries in the United States and Canada. Her most recent exhibitions include work in “Critical Translations” at the Katherine E. Nash Gallery, Minneapolis and “Postcards from the Edge” an AIDS benefit in New York City.  Solo shows include exhibitions at the Gage Gallery, Augsburg College, the Kiehle Gallery, St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud; the Len G. Everett Gallery at Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois and the Paul Watkins Gallery at Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota.  In 2005, Willcox received a Minnesota State Arts Board, Artist Initiative Grant.  She lives in Minneapolis with her partner and their two children.
