Quick "How To" help with the Macalester Admitted Students Forum. Please refer to the Help section provided within the Forum for in-depth assistance and to view additional options available in the forum.
Login to the Forum
1. Open your web browser and go to the following URL: http://admitforum.macalester.edu/
2. Use the Login box in the center of the screen, type the Username and Password provided to you, and click on the Login button or hit enter. (upper- and lower-case letters and spaces between words matter).
3. Your forum Name or Display Name is what is used in the forum to identify you. You will see your Display Name in the upper left hand corner of the screen after the word, Hello.

Create a New Topic in a Board
1. At the home page of the Forum, click on a Board title.
2. Click on New Topic in the blue horizontal menu in the upper right of the screen (or in the green horizontal menu in the lower right of your screen).
3. Enter a Subject for your Topic.
4. Enter your content in the provided text box.
5. Optional: Use formatting options as you desire.
6. Optional: Click on Additional Options at the bottom left of the form.
7. Optional: Click the Preview button to view your Topic before you post.
8. Click the Post button to submit your new Topic.

Reply to a Topic
1. Click on a Board title.
2. Click on a Topic.
3. Click on Reply in the blue horizontal menu in the upper right of the screen (or in the green horizontal menu in the lower right of your screen).
4. The Subject line of the form is automatically filled in with the original Topic. Enter your content in the provided text box.
5. Optional: Use formatting options as you desire.
6. Optional: Click on Additional Options at the bottom left of the form.
7. Optional: Click the Preview button to view your Reply before you post.
8. Click the Post button to submit your Reply.

Remove a Topic
1. Click on a Board title.
2. Click on a Topic.
3. Click on Remove Topic in the blue horizontal menu on the lower left of the screen.
4. Click Yes in the pop up box to verify the removal of the Topic.

Post a New Poll in a Board
1. Click on a Board title.
2. Click on Post New Poll in the blue horizontal menu in the upper right of the screen (or in the green horizontal menu in the lower right of your screen).
3. Fill out the Poll form including: a Subject, a Message icon (optional), your Poll Question, Options for users to choose, additional Option choices using the provided link (optional), additional Poll Options provided (optional), and a Poll description (optional).
4. Optional: Click on Additional Options at the bottom left of the form.
5. Optional: Click the Preview button to view your Poll before you post.
6. Click the Post button to submit your Post.

Add a Poll to a Topic
1. Click on a Board title.
2. Click on a Topic.
3. Click on Add Poll in the green horizontal menu on the lower right of the screen.
4. Fill out the Poll form including: your Poll Question, Options for users to choose, additional Option choices using the provided link (optional), and additional Poll Options provided (optional).
5. Optional: Click the Preview button to view your Poll before you post.
6. Click the Save button to submit your Poll.

Email the Content of a Topic
1. Click on a Board title.
2. Click on a Topic.
3. Click on Send This Topic in the blue horizontal menu in the upper right of the screen (or in the green horizontal menu in the lower right of your screen).
4. Enter your personal contact information. Your email address should appear automatically in the appropriate field.
5. Enter the Recipient's Name and Email Address.
6. Click the Send button to email the content of the Topic to the Recipient.

Print the Content of a Topic
1. Click on a Board title.
2. Click on a Topic.
3. Click on Print in the blue horizontal menu in the upper right of the screen (or in the green horizontal menu in the lower right of your screen).
4. A new browser tab or window will open displaying the content of the Topic, reformatted for printing.
5. Use your browser's print function and related options as you desire.
6. Close the browser tab or window displaying the reformatted content to return to the Forum.
