New Web Site Design Goes Live
The new Macalester home page and top level/section pages are now live. Please continue to review and explore the site! If you encounter problems, or have questions, email firstname.lastname@example.org. To make it even easier to provide comments and ask questions, we’ve temporarily added a “Feedback” button on the left side of the new pages.
About this Site provides helpful background, tips and frequently asked questions about the new site. You will find a link in the footer on each page.
Plans for the transition of departmental sites can be found here. This phased approach was developed in consultation with Provost Kathy Murray and Vice President for Student Affairs Laurie Hamre and considered a variety of criteria including the size of the existing site, number of visitors, staff capacity to facilitate transition, and others. That said, we know there will be adjustments in the timeline along the way. Any significant concerns with the transition plans should be shared with the web team (email email@example.com) or your client manager in Communications.
This launch is the first of two major events associated with the redesign. The second will be the implementation of Macalester’s new web content management system. That system is being configured and will manage and deliver our web content beginning mid-September. Once the new system is in place, we will begin the process of working with departments to train content providers.

New Web Design Preview
The Macalester home page and top level/section pages have been transitioned to the new design. The campus community is invited to preview the site and explore the new design, prior to the launch this Friday. As you view and interact with the new pages, please remember:
- Our current focus is on final testing and quality assurance. Adjustments will be made as needed to improve the user experience, but the overall design is final. (Summary of design process and feedback)
- If you find something that isn’t functioning as you expected or you find any inaccuracies, copy edits, or the like, email email@example.com and let us know.
- "About This Site" provides background information about the redesign, overviews the design features and changes, and offers helpful hints for using the new site features.

New Web Site Design is Coming Soon
Changes are on the way for the Macalester web site. The site will begin transitioning to the new design at the end of July. This image from earlier in the year serves as a reminder of the new design concept. First we will launch the top-level pages, then we'll convert academic and administrative department sites. Communications staff have already begun working with many departments to prepare for the redesign. It will take 12 to 18 months to transition the entire site to the new design. The web team is hard at work putting the finishing touches on the new look and preparing to implement the new content management system. Watch for a web site "sneak preview" notice in the Daily Piper next week!
