Professor Dosch is a terrestrial ecologist with a particular interest in birds, environmental issues, and the ecological challenges of the winter season.  His current research projects are investigating the impacts of heavy metals (airborne mercury pollution and lead fishing tackle) on Common Loons (Gavia immer) in Minnesota; the importance of fruit-eating birds to rainforest regeneration in abandoned Costa Rican pastures; and the population and community ecology of over-wintering birds, particularly Black-capped Chickadees (Poecile atricapilla). In his spare time Professor Dosch enjoys herding cats and exploring the outdoors with his growing family.
