Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, January 17, 2005
10 a.m.
4th Floor Old Main
Attendees: Patty Pfalz, Mary Lou Byrne, Barb Jeffers, Jill
Gebhardt,Kay Crawford, Jane Kollasch, Roxy Fischer, Ann Esson, Theresa Klauer,
Margaret Beegle, Mary Claire Schultz
Patty let us know that she'd just learned that Dan Balik preferred to come talk
to us about the Leonard fund, but could not make it today, so I will try to have
him come to our next meeting on Feb. 14 (probably in the 4th floor lounge, I
haven't heard back from res. yet)
Before that announcement we had begun a conversation about the status of
upgrading our positions, and since our agenda fell apart we discussed that a
little instead. We decided to ask Lynn Hertz to come to our Feb, meeting to talk
about the job review process, especially in light of the "limbo" H.R. seems to
be in at present. We will also ask her about following up on the request we made
to David Wheaton and Diane Michelfelder about funding a retreat for our group.
We talked about our Job Evaluations that are due for all of us on February 28.
These must be completed in order to qualify for any proposed raise. Also, if
merit raises are offered again this year, your chair will receive a letter from
the provost asking for a recommendation. Your chair must write a letter
recommending that you receive the merit raise for you to stand any chance of
receiving it. Even then the provost will have to decide from a pool of
recommended people to give a limited number of raises.
We discussed whether Athletics should be included in our AOP group and concluded
that it should.
We talked a little about the upcoming changes with Banner and decided we should
plan to have Nancy Eastham come to a meeting in March or later to give our whole
group an overview.
Tips shared:
Two ideas to back-up computer data, when you don't want to rely on the campus
server space.
1. Use a portable USB storage device (the kind that you can attach to a key
chain)
2. Purchase an external hard drive (about $100. David Sisk can help with this).
Your computer can be programmed to back up your existing files to this drive,
nightly.
If you have photos stored in different files on your computer, you can download
a program from
www.picasa.com to be able to view all those picture files in one location.
