A number of study abroad programs in Africa are available through the International Center.

Macalester directly supports (in conjunction with Swarthmore and Pomona Colleges) a spring semester program entitled Globalization and the Natural Environment: South Africa.

The Associated Colleges of the Midwest, of which Macalester is a member, has two programs in Africa—the fall Tanzania program, which focuses in issues of human evolution and ecology, and the spring program in Botswana, which looks at issues of economic and political development, national economy.
