Visiting Assistant Professor
SooJin Pate received her Ph.D. in American Studies at the University of Minnesota, with a minor in African American and African Studies. She teaches courses on critical race theory, immigration, and transnational approaches to U.S. history and culture. Informed by Paolo Freire’s The Pedagogy of the Oppressed, Pate works to equalize the terrain of knowledge by reviving the histories, experiences, and voices of historically marginalized groups in the classroom. Her book Genealogies of Korean Adoption is forthcoming with the University of Minnesota Press.
