Sonia Patten, visiting assistant professor, teaches courses on African ethnography, gender and development, and the anthropology of tourism. Her current research focuses on household food security in rural Malawi. Recent publications include co-authored chapters in The Behavioral Sciences and Health care, Family Practice Currents, and Indigenous Knowledge Systems: The Cultural Dimension of Development. She is a reviewer for the journal, African Studies Review.
