2011-12 FACULTY AND STAFF SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT
The Faculty Staff Endowed Scholarship at Macalester was created in April 2008 in response to the high participation of faculty and staff in Step Forward. The 2011-12 recipient is Olivia Nichols '13, from St. Paul. She is a graduate of Henry Sibley Senior High and is majoring in anthropology and English, with an African studies concentration. She works for the Department of Multicultural Life and is a member of the Institute for Global Citizenship's student council. Last spring, she helped bring the international organization OneVoice to campus to focus attention on the movement seeking a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict. After Macalester, she hopes to attend graduate school and study global childbirth practices and issues. Olivia says, "I love seeing all the wonderful things Mac students are doing every day. Everyone is passionate about something, and Macalester provides us with the outlets to express that passion and initiate real change!"
