Antigone Spring 2011

This production of “Antigone” was directed by guest artist Randy Reyes, artistic and producing associate at St. Paul-based Mu Performing Arts, the third largest pan-Asian performing arts organization in the United States. Reyes has appeared on many Twin Cities stages, including that of the Guthrie Theater, where he played the title role in M. Butterfly. He has directed at Bloomington Civic Theatre and Pillsbury House Theatre and teaches acting and movement in the University of Minnesota’s BFA Actor Training Program.

The drama of the fearless young woman who defies her uncle, the ruler Kreon, “Antigone” was the perfect vehicle for Brecht to explore issues of power, exile, and the state’s criminalizing of the designated other.
