Administrative System Planning Collaborative

Bethel College, College of St. Catherine, Macalester College, Northwestern College,

Wm. Mitchell School of Law

Our colleges are engaged in a collaborative project that will strongly affect the academic life of our campuses. We are cooperatively evaluating the adequacy of the administrative system we all utilize and the possibility of migrating to another one. This is important both because of direct data services for faculty members and academic administrators, such as student records, and because of the dependent linkage between the administrative system and related applications, such as course management systems.

We invite two academic representatives from your campus and one from IT to attend a structured discussion of the administrative system decision on Wednesday, October 22, beginning at 1:30 p.m. in room 214 of the Macalester College Campus Center. The room is reserved until 4 p.m. but we will finish when the group is ready. The location is building #23 on the campus map found at <http://www.macalester.edu/about/mapbyalpha.html>. The meeting room is upstairs. Provide extra time to browse for parking Ð lots are marked on the map.

The agenda for the meeting is

1. Introductions

2. Definition of "administrative system" and how it relates to other systems

3. Why we are here

a. Issues with the current administrative system and its vendor

b. Collaboration and parameters

c. Time table

4. What we need from you

While I will host the meeting and deal with some preliminaries, we hope for a good, participatory discussion.

Thank you.
