Getting Started

Macalester Application Part 1
Submit Part 1 online by November 15 and the $40 application fee will be waived. A file for your application materials will be created when we receive Part 1.

Completing Your Application

Macalester uses the Common Application. You can apply online, or you can apply by downloading PDFs of the forms, completing them, and mailing them to our Admissions Office (1600 Grand Avenue, St. Paul, MN 55105-1899).

Required Forms and Test Scores

Note: all forms are available via the apply links above.

  • First-Year Application
  • Macalester Supplement
  • SAT or ACT Test Scores
    Macalester's identification codes are: SAT (6390) and ACT (2122).
  • School Report
    Complete the applicant section of the School Report and give it to your school counselor.
  • Midyear Report
    Complete the applicant section of the Midyear Report and give it to your school counselor.
  • Two Teacher Evaluations
    Complete the applicant sections of two Teacher Evaluation forms and give them to teachers of core academic subjects (English, social studies, foreign language, mathematics or science).
  • Transcript
    Request that your secondary school(s) send Macalester official transcript(s) of all classes and grades beginning with 9th Grade.
  • International School Supplement
    If you attend a high school that does not use a U.S. curriculum or the International Baccalaureate, fill out the applicant section of this form and ask your counselor or appropriate school official to complete the form and submit it along with your high school transcript.
  • Home School Supplement
    If applicable, fill in the applicant section on this form and give it to the appropriate person for completion.

  • Athletic Supplement
    Complete and submit the Athletic Supplement only if you plan to participate in intercollegiate sports at Macalester.

Application Fee

Submit the $40 fee or the fee-waiver request form found on the College Board website (see apply links above).

Early Decision Agreement

If you are applying Early Decision, complete and submit the Early Decision Agreement form (see apply links above). Be sure to include the signatures of your school counselor and a parent or legal guardian.

Financial Aid

If you wish to be considered for financial aid, visit the Financial Aid website for instructions.
