- 29% of transfer applicants were admitted for the fall of 2009 school year.
- The median ACT composite score of admitted transfer students was 27.
- The median SAT combined critical reading and math score was 1370.
- Transfer applicants should usually present a cumulative grade point average of “B+” (or 3.33 average) or better.
Many factors (recommendations, essays, interviews, leadership potential and abilities, and extracurricular activities) are considered in our evaluation of each applicant's admission credentials. Macalester recommends a secondary school curriculum with four years of English, three years of history or social science, three years of mathematics, three years of laboratory science, and two years of a single foreign language. In addition, applicants are expected to have taken at least some of the honors or advanced courses available at their secondary schools. Transfer applicants should submit transcripts that show achievement in academic core subjects at another college or university.
