Consider coming for a visit. You, undoubtedly, have questions that brochures can't answer. A campus visit will allow you to experience Macalester first-hand.

If you are a student with a disability or traveling with a family member with a disability, please mention the needs when you call or sign up for a visit. We will be better able to make appropriate accommocations for your visit.

What to Do

Campus Tours. Tours of the Macalester campus, with one of our student guides, are offered daily Monday-Friday, year round, and on Saturday mornings during the fall semester. Please call the Admissions Office for the exact times.

Class Visits. We encourage you to sit in on a class or two while you are here, and are happy to arrange a schedule for you. The widest variety of classes is available Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, but you are welcome to attend classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays as well. Please schedule class visits at least one week in advance.

Interview or Information Session
Interviews are recommended, but not required. They are available Monday-Friday and Saturdays during the fall semester. See the Visit Calendar for more details.
Information Sessions are also a good way to learm more about the college, the admissions process and financial aid, in an informal Question and Answer session. Information sessions are provided daily Monday-Friday, and on Saturdays during the fall and in April.

Overnight Visits. Overnight visits are available during the academic year. Reservations for on-campus overnights must be made at least two weeks in advance. We cannot provide overnight accommodations during vacations or examination periods, on Saturday nights, or for more than one night. Space is limited, so please plan ahead.

Because so many high school seniors request overnight visits, Macalester is not able to host juniors overnight. We welcome juniors for daytime visits and campus tours.

Other Requests. You may want to schedule an appointment to meet with a faculty member, coach, Multicultural Affairs staff member, or other member of the Macalester community while you are on campus. The Admissions Office will be glad to put you in contact with anyone on campus so that you can arrange a meeting directly.

Sampler Weekends. Macalester hosts three Samplers in the fall for high school students who want to learn more about Mac and two Samplers in April for admitted students. These programs include campus tours, class visits, and opportunities to talk with students and professors. The Spring Sampler also offers a chance to stay overnight with a Macalester student.
