Economics
After Mac: Analysis Group, Boston
Looking back at the past four years, I must
admit that I have been very fortunate in
choosing to study at Macalester. The college
has provided me with many opportunities,
both at school and in work life,
that have served me well. The economics
professors are very impressive. They raise
your level of understanding and are very
accommodating to students outside of
class, both academically and in seeking
internships and jobs. Two of the professors
set me up with internships in Boston and
in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where I did my
study abroad to learn Spanish. The Boston
internship actually put me on the path to a
full-time job working for a consulting company
in Boston after graduation.
In addition to rigorous studies at
Macalester, I played on the varsity soccer
team all four years, which was a great
bonus and made my college experience
even more rewarding. There are quite a
few students who play on various sports
teams. Time management is very important
in juggling studies and sports, but it
is also very rewarding. As a prospective
student, I was seeking a small liberal arts
college with an emphasis on internationalism,
in an urban area with a good soccer
team. Macalester has accommodated
all my needs, and I cannot think of many
other places where I would be as happy as
I am here.
