Panelist Bios - Deborah Karasov ’77
Executive Director of Great River Greening
and Vice Chair of the Board for Franconia Sculpture Park
Deborah has experience with nonprofits in both the environment and art fields. Currently she is executive director of Great River Greening (website), which leads community-based restoration of natural areas and open spaces in the Twin Cities metro area. She was previously director of the Landscape Studies Center at the University of Minnesota. In the art realm, she is currently vice chair of the Board for Franconia Sculpture Park (website) and was Director of Adult Programs at the Walker Art Center, as well as editor of Public Art Review. She received her M.L.A. in Landscape Architecture from Harvard University in 1981, and her Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Minnesota in 1986.
