Panelist Bios - Jim Balabuszko-Reay ’90
Independent Healthcare Information Technology Consultant
Jim Balabuszko-Reay ’90 graduated with a major in Music Composition and no idea whatsoever what to do with it. After a few years of odd jobs — including coffee roasting, Karaoke backing track arranging, non-profit data entry, and record store clerking — he stumbled into the world of information technology, where he has made his living for the past 15 years, moving from programmer to analyst to team lead to project manager.
Currently specializing in healthcare information technology, Jim's current role finds him working with cardiologists and technologists implementing a cardiovascular information system, incorporating imaging and documentation. As an independent consultant for four years with a mortgage and a family to take care of, he is well aware of the need to keep one's networks alive to find the next opportunity, and the importance of being flexible when looking for work.
