MaMa mOsAic mini Femme Fest: “Wonder Women” Panel Discussion

Bringing pioneering women of color together whose work intersects along lines of anti-violence education, arts for social change, and women's empowerment. Mosaic will provided light snacks. All are encouraged to bring a small dish to share. Eliza Rasheed ’06 helped put on this event.

MaMa mOsAic mini Femme Fest: Play Readings

DraMa sKool is Mosaic's newly created developmental series for female playwrights and directors of color in support of the creation and production of new works. Mosaic cultivates playwrights and directors and pairs them with professional dramaturgs and actors towards mounting a one-act staged reading of their work. Each one-act reading is followed by a half hour discussion. 11:00 a.m. “Jess and Sally are Back in Town” by Katie Hae Ryun Leo and directed by Kimberly Morgan; 12:30 p.m. “Panthers Pantry” by Ellena Schoop and directed by Shá Cage ’95; 2:00 p.m. “Still” by Stacey Parshall and directed by Aditi Kapil ’94; 4:00 p.m. “Tizi Ouzou” by Taous Khazem ’03 and directed by Sun Mee Chomet. May Mahala ’01 and Macalester Professor Harry Waters, Jr., are consulting in these productions. DraMa sKool is generously supported by Old Arizona Theater.

MaMa mOsAic mini Femme Fest: After Party and Shá Cage ’95 CD Release

In addition to being an after party for MaMa mOsAic’s Mini Femme Fest, the evening will celebrate Shá Cage’s (’95) newly released CD, “Amber People.” Super Sexy or Funky 70's Attire encouraged!

Aviette plays the Stonearch Festival of the Arts

Aviette, the band fronted by Holly Munoz ’02, plays a morning show at the Stone Arch Festival of the Arts. A wide range of activities will be happening at the festival throughout the day including an open air food market, youth arts activities, a family singing contest, a classic car show, opportunities to test drive the new-to-America Smart Car, and a number of artists exhibiting their wears in booths. The festival runs Saturday and Sunday, June 16 and 17.

Reception for exhibit “Wildhorse to Jarbidge, the Artistic View”

Northeastern Nevada Museum, 1515 Idaho Street, Elko, Nev.

Tickets: $5 museum entrance fee at the door; waived for reception.

An exhibit of juried artwork by award-winning artists depicting the scenery and wildlife of the northeastern Nevada area from Wildhorse Reservoir to the town of Jarbidge and the Jarbidge Wilderness. Three watercolors by Kristi Lyn Hawkinson Glass ’69 will be included among the 70-plus paintings in the exhibit.
