In recognition of their leadership of Macalester Alumni Connect (yMac) and dependable financial support as sustaining members of the Summit Society, Chrissy Newcombe Dahlheimer '02 and Josh Ortiz '05 are October's Macbassadors of the Month.
Together Chrissy and Josh co-chair the yMac steering committee. Their enthusiasm for Macalester has brought together a vibrant young alumni community for the college. In addition to serving as co-chairs for the yMac steering committee, both Chrissy and Josh serve as Class Agents for the Annual Fund. Since the yMac group launched a year ago, more than 160 young alumni have attended an event and 1,577 have joined the active Facebook group.
"During my time there, the college provided me with so much and the administration, faculty, and staff inspired me to reach my potential and be a contributor to the world," Ortiz says. "I am proud to be associated with such a fine institution, and am honored to help carry on the legacy of the college."
Chrissy cites the importance of volunteering in strengthening Macalester's programs, community, and financial stability. "Volunteering allows me to stay connected to the college and draws me closer to the Mac community," she says. "I value the people I met at Mac and the relationships I have with fellow alumni. A strong alumni community makes Macalester a better college for today’s students."
From Halloween parties to Twins games, educational forums to networking events, yMac brings together young alumni in the Twin Cities to socialize, serve the community, make professional connections, and support the Annual Fund.
Join us in congratulating Chrissy Newcombe Dahlheimer '02 and Josh Ortiz '05, our October Macbassadors of the Month.
