Reflections from Joy Hinn

Ronald Hinn in 1956.Ronald Hinn

Ron served the U.S. Army at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas. He completed his military service in Germany where he played baseball for the Armed Forces Baseball League. He married Joy Elaine Stanley from Fort Smith, Arkansas, in 1953. What wonderful memories Ron and I have of Macalester College and living in Macville.

Our family moved to Anchorage, Alaska, in 1967 where Ron became involved in the construction of production facilities and pipelines for the Alaska petroleum industry. As an entrepreneur in the North American pipeline industry, Ron was recognized most notably for his ability to operate effectively and economically within the complicated world of the petroleum industry. He was instrumental in the opening of Alaska’s North Slope to oil exploration and developed many of the Arctic construction techniques in use to this day.

During our years in Anchorage, Ron was active in the Petroleum Club of Anchorage and the Chamber of Commerce. He served on the American Trade Commission and as a committee member of the Anchorage-Chitose, Japan Sister City Organization.

In later years, Ron joined Celeron Corporation as President and Operations Manager of the All American Pipeline Project. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Santa Barbara, California, and long-time member of the Elk’s Club, B.P.O.E. We enjoyed traveling. We have three children: Ron, Jr; Janice; David and five grandchildren.

Sorry, I do not plan to attend the 50-year reunion.
