Interesting Courses—Inspiring Professors

Learning Russian
There were so many excellent professors. One that stands out in my mind, besides Robert Dassett, was Dr. G. Palmer who taught Russian. She was infinitely patient, humorous, and willing to teach the smallest classes, sometimes as few as four to six students... Russian wasn't in great demand in those days.

Spangler and Dodge
Professor Spangler and Dorothy Dodge were willing to help me understand their questions and point me in the right direction. I had trouble with double negatives.
- Nancy Allen Hillman

A great musical influence
Professor Ian Morton in the music department was a great influence in my musical endeavors.

All 749 bones in the ear
I remember Human Anatomy taught by Dr. O.T. Walter my freshman year. Did he REALLY expect me to commit to memory all 749 bones of the ear? Yes, he did! Many pre-meds in the class for whom the intricacies of the human body seemed to hold no mystery.

Ward's Shakespeare
I remember walking crowded halls to Dr. Earl Ward's Shakespeare class. He enjoyed the lewd passages and took pleasure in pointing them out. Most of all he taught me to love the language.
