Dorm Life (Women)

Don't fall froggy
I remember making sure the frog I brought to the dorm to study for biology didn't fall off the outside of the window sill. It was winter and I hung it out the window. The window was on the front of Bigelow Hall.

Single room for two
The biggest shock was that of being led down the halls in Bigelow Hall to a single room which would be turned into a room for two via bunk beds. It was:

Crowded in the morning,
Crowded in the afternoon,
Crowded in the evening.
IT LEFT NO ROOM!!

All of these beginnings led to the most wonderful years and the roommates are still, 50 years later, fast friends.

Punishment at Wally
As a freshman, you kind of watched what the others were doing and then do the same. As a sophomore, you’re much more sophisticated and you just “do” things, like you know what you’re doing. I was out on a date one night (that fact alone should have an ‘*’ by it) and having a good time. Twelve o’clock came and went, because what the heck, I could borrow a one o’clock from somewhere, what difference would that make? The difference was: 1) that was not an option; 2) Mrs. K. was at the sign-in desk waiting for me; 3) I got a lecture; 4) my  “case” went to the judicial committee of Wally Hall; and 5) I was restricted to nasty and early hours for a month… so, just in case this wasn’t news to everyone, I put black paper bars on my window for the duration of my incarceration. Can you imagine that happening today?
