Don’t real men wear hats?
As we approached the end of our senior year, roommates Dick Flathman, Darrel Gubrud and I decided we needed to look more mature. Men in the business world all wore hats. So off we went to a men’s store in downtown St. Paul and each bought a stylish black hat. How adult we felt! Really smart looking! We wore them a few times to campus events. Darrel probably had to wear one when he began at IBM. I never did and Dick probably ditched his when he went off to grad school.
