How Texas Tech football affected my studies
During the football season, if Texas Tech won its game, we would not have a pop quiz on Monday. If Texas Tech lost, we would have a pop quiz on Monday. I also remember attending a couple of beer parties near River Road.

Library caves
This may strike everyone as anti-social, but I truly came to love studying in those carrels in the library stacks! That was where I discovered what a joy it could be to read, do research, think and write with all the necessary resources at my elbow… in peace and solitude… with no distraction other than my own breathing. It was a new world—that of a scholar—and it was exhilarating.
- Audrey Monsen Olson

College of my dreams
“There’s a long, long trail a-winding” to the college of my dreams—and the arrival at it was more than my dreams. It was a most wonderful place to beautify my life and to expand my horizons.
- Jean Lindesmith Johnson
