Finding true love at WBOM and Little Theatre
I am indebted to WBOM and the Little Theatre for meeting Ann Beran, then a 17-year-old freshman, when I was a 19-year-old sophomore. Our first meeting was at WBOM, when I was Station Manager and she was an announcer. I wanted to become a sportscaster and called the Mac football and basketball games. The vocational goal changed, but I still have great memories of broadcasting from the booth or balcony. Then, my work contract included being the treasurer for Mary Gwen Owens and the Little Theatre. On December 5, 1953, Ann and I had our first date. We were engaged on St. PatrickÕs Day in 1956; married on August 31, 1957; and since then share a life and family (two daughters and five grandchildren), including service in the Presbyterian Church where I was pastor and Ann a super-volunteer and Vice-Moderator of the General Assembly in 2002-03.

Late night DJ
I remember spinning Jo Stafford, Joni James and Teresa Brewer records on my late night once-a-week disc jockey program, broadcast from the Wyerhaeuser Library studios of WBOM, the campus radio station that had a signal spanning all of two blocks.
