Road trip to Colorado
In the spring of our senior year, Honey Rohrer, Mary Louise Hansen, Nancy Meservey, Jean Lindesmith, Fanchon Linville and I trekked out to Colorado with Dr. Palmer and his son—who did most of the driving—to interview for teaching jobs. What a trip that was! We were—all eight of us—crammed into a station wagon with all our baggage and various snacks to keep us going. I remember someone bringing Rice Krispies bars. Had several interviews and offers, went to the Easter Sunrise service at Red Rocks and got the grand tour of the area, from Boulder to Colorado Springs. Ultimately we all chose to teach in Denver so the trip was deemed a success. Can you imagine our doing that now?

Beyond Minnesota borders
Probably my most special memories, other than friendships, were the opportunities to travel out of Minnesota to the Canadian American Conference in Winipeg; United College in 1955; Redlands Debate Tournament in California in 1956; Midwest College Republican Convention in Ohio in 1955 and the same convention in Kansas in 1956; and Easter vacation in Washington, D.C. in 1954.
