Here are the activities planned for the Class of 1957 50-Year Reunion. Events of special interest to our class are highlighted. Times and locations for these events may change, so be sure to pick up a final schedule at Registration when you arrive on campus.

A panel of classmates discuss what aspects of their life after college they feel good about. A chance to reflect and share how you have fulfilled hopes and moved from fear in your own life. Moderated by Andrew Benjamin ’57.

All-Class Picnic
Gather for an old-fashioned barbecue with live music and festive entertainment for the whole family. There will be tarot reading, face painting, caricatures, palm reading, the African Music Ensemble and the Fred Richardson Trio with Dave McCurdy. Door prizes and the award for best class attendance will be presented by our emcee, President Brian Rosenberg.

Discussion — The Things They Carried
Tim O’Brien’s 1990 book The Things They Carried — the common reading for this year’s Reunion — was chosen by the New York Times as one of the most important works of fiction published in the last 25 years. Based on his experiences as a soldier during the Vietnam War, the book is a collection of interrelated stories about a single platoon. O’Brien, whose novel was also chosen for the citywide reading program, St. Paul Reads, will receive a Distinguished Citizen Citation at Reunion. Sponsored by the Classes of 1967, 1968 and 1969.
