Reflections from Marilyn Clark Sanchez ’54.
John loved his days at Macalester where he assisted Dr. Peter Mausolite in the Spanish Department. He was delighted to be a member of the Cosmo Club. He also had a Spanish elementary class on Saturdays.
John was fluent in several languages, German being his native one and Spanish his second. He also knew French, Portuguese, Italian, Latin, and, of course, English.
All his life he was curious and interested in everything. He wanted to learn about people, their careers, their crafts, their thinking. His follow up to conversation was frequently to get more information from the library so he could understand better as well as satisfy his intellectual curiosity.
John loved his extended (my) family and we visited often to celebrate life. We were married for over five years. John was an exceptionally loving, generous, and loyal person, and an aggressive advocate for anyone needing his help.
