Icy steps, but warm community
Has anyone else had the occasion to fall down (underline) all the stairs to the entrance of Old Main? Icy steps, snow falling, a full armload of books... down I went, papers flying. People ran to help. No injuries.

When Roger slipped on an icy curb
In January l957, Roger, my fiancé, slipped on an icy curb outside Kirk Hall. He knew he had broken his leg for he heard it splinter. It was early on a Saturday morning so there was little traffic and no students around.
Immediately he began shivering in the near-zero weather and calling, "Help!" into the air. No one came. Finally, a classmate, Fred Bunce ’57, spotted him and hastened over. He went back to the dorm and returned with a blanket and hot tea. They decided the best thing would be to contact the health service.
Fred returned from there saying he had told the nurse (her name escapes me) that Roger had broken his leg and she had answered, "Have him walk over here!" Needless to say, that didn't work. Soon an ambulance came and took him to a St. Paul hospital.
