Here are the activities planned for the Class of 1982 25-Year Reunion. Events of special interest to our class are highlighted. Times and locations for these events may change, so be sure to pick up a final schedule at Registration when you arrive on campus.

8:15–9:15 p.m. Bagdad Big Band, a tribute to Don Ralston ’69, featuring Just Friends Big Band with John Curlee ’69.

9:30–10:30 p.m.Steeplejack, having hung up their leather pants in 1998, reunites on this special occasion to thrill the audience with their "energetic country-punk sound," featuring Andy Sullivan ’92, Ben Connelly ’92, Nate Link ’92, and Meleck Davis ’96.

10:45–11:45 p.m. Aviette, one of the hottest new indie bands in the Twin Cities, features lead singer / guitarist Holly Muñoz ’02.

Everything you wanted to know about college finance but were afraid to ask. Why is tuition so high? Where does the money go? What’s the deal with financial aid these days? How big is that endowment anyway? Presented by President Brian Rosenberg and the Vice President for Administration and Finance David Wheaton.

Gather for an old-fashioned barbecue with live music and festive entertainment for the whole family. There will be tarot reading, face painting, caricatures, palm reading, the African Music Ensemble and the Fred Richardson Trio with Dave McCurdy. Door prizes and the award for best class attendance will be presented by our emcee, President Brian Rosenberg.

Middle school kids hang out with "Mr. Rec" (alias Steve Cox ’76) for outdoor games and fun. Registration required, no charge.

Discussion — The Things They Carried
Tim O’Brien’s 1990 book The Things They Carried — the common reading for this year’s Reunion — was chosen by the New York Times as one of the most important works of fiction published in the last 25 years. Based on his experiences as a soldier during the Vietnam War, the book is a collection of interrelated stories about a single platoon. O’Brien, whose novel was also chosen for the citywide reading program, St. Paul Reads, will receive a Distinguished Citizen Citation at Reunion. Sponsored by the Classes of 1967, 1968 and 1969.
