Suggestion for Class Soundtrack:
"Lonely Woman" by Ornette Coleman
It reminds me of the many fine hours spent with the likes of Scott Nielsen reveling in the expressive power of free jazz greats.

I am an assistant professor of music at small two-year college near Yellowstone in northwest Wyoming. I run a program in music technology and teach music theory. Elaine DeBuhr ’82, who teaches ceramics at Northwest College, and I have a nine-year-old son, Miles.

It is the smallest town either one of us have ever lived in (c.a. Population 5,500), but it is a good place.

My Mac Memories: If I had to name just a few (very hard to do) I would have to include exploring music with the eccentric Dr. Alvin King, Spring Fest, and learning a great deal from friends — who, while I may have a poor record of correspondence, I have always kept close to my heart.

"Drinking With an Angel" by The Suburbs
The Suburbs were a great escape from campus. I remember seeing them in the best places — 1st Ave and outside in Loring Park — and in the most unspeakably foul places like the Chain Link on I-94 (Marie B. and Doug T., believe you were there too). Any song they did was fun to dance to, but Drinking With an Angel stood out for a great riff, Beej's slurred lyrics, and Hugo's maniacal drumming.

My family and I moved from California to Pelham in Westchester County, just north of New York City. Beth and I wanted to be back on the East Coast, and since my job at Sun Microsystems centered more on New York financial services customers, we needed to move. Ten-year-old Jonathan wasn't so sure about leaving friends and perpetual summer, but he fit right in. His playing the best rock guitar in his school helped. Beth Fouhy is the senior national political reporter for Associated Press and covers Hillary Clinton.

My Mac Memories: Achingly long Community Council meetings. The first warm glorious day of spring, when everyone was on the grass in front of Old Main, Springsteen filtered out of opened Kirk windows and finals were still four to five weeks away. The way David Lanegran's classes made St. Paul seem so rich and meaningful. Sitting in Prof. Norman's Philology class after lunch after having thumbed my dog-eared 3x5's all night to remember Latin and Greek roots. Dancing to Echo and the Bunnymen in the sand volleyball pit at Duffy's.

Suggestion for Class Soundtrack:
"Bricklayer" by Husker Du
Because Bob is in our class and Husker Du got started in those golden years at Mac!

I'm living on 40 acres in upstate New York and working in fiber arts and sculpting. I have two wonderful children, Guthrie and Hannah. Hannah is a junior at Mac. I got a master’s in art therapy at Pratt Institute in New York City. I still spend as much time as possible in Montana.

My Mac Memories: Hearing Husker Du play at the bar on Randolph; seeing Prairie Home Companion show when it was still a local phenomena; staying up all night in the sculpture studio after a bronze pouring waiting for the molds to cool; and accidentally spraying gas on Kaye's pants just before she left for a road trip (sorry Kaye!). And did they really show the Woodstock movie during orientation week?
