Well, it has been a long and winding road since I left Mac. I got a master's degree in Geology at Kansas State University. Just after grad school, Ben Kristy ’92 and I got married in St. Louis. By the time the wedding rolled around, we had moved south once again and I spent five years working for an oil company in Texas. My first job there was doing regulatory and environmental work, then I spent three years drilling oil and gas wells in east Texas. Ben found a job he loved as the curator of a small aviation museum in Dallas.  After a couple of years there, he left to become the curator of the American Airlines Museum so we flew for free!

I left my job in the oil business in 2000 with a big severance check and the idea that I could support myself as a technical writer. That worked out fine for almost a year, until Sam was born. Having a baby makes it really hard to work at home, so I did a lot less work!

In 2003, after eight years in Texas we decided that it was time to move on... Ben took a job at the Evergreen Aviation Museum in McMinnville, Ore., and we were off. All of this time, I have continued to knit and when Sam started Montessori school, I started working part time in a knitting shop in McMinnville's historic downtown.  Along the way, I discovered the Knitting Guild of America's Master Knitter program. I started the process and three years later, I am now a certified Master Knitter!

In 2006, Ben got the opportunity to move to the brand new National Museum of the Marine Corps, which opened last fall, so we packed up the house and moved to Virginia. The job is good, the proximity to grandparents is great, but we miss Oregon. I still knit too much, but in a far less professional capacity.

My Mac Memories: Being the only Mac fans at cross country and track meets. Being awoken way too early on a Saturday by the Scottish Country Fair massed band playing outside my dorm window freshman year (they really should have warned us!). Spending way too much time trying to "see in 3-D" in structural geology labs.

I was recently released from Huntsville Penitentiary (for an alleged wire fraud which I didn’t do), trying to get my life back in order. Have three kids, an ex-wife, a new wife, live in Austin, Texas, and split my time watching the kids and Comedy Central. If you have a good paying job that doesn't require much work, please give me a call.

My Mac Memories: Shvoolie poopsie!
