After graduation, Dena Majeski ’93 and I got married. After a year of working in fundraising, we moved to Austin, Texas. I attended law school at UT and Dena worked as a writer and editor of math and science textbooks. Among other things, I worked on the Terry Nichols defense and saw a lot of great bands while there.
Then we moved back to Minnesota where I clerked for U.S. District Judge Jim Rosenbaum. We had our daughter Ella in 1999. After a couple of years clerking, we moved out to D.C., where I practiced law at Williams & Connolly as a litigator, occasionally seeing Jay Eversman ’93 when in New York. Dena and I had our son Liam in 2002 at home.
Then in 2003 I went on the teaching market and ended up with a position on the faculty at Western New England College School of Law in Springfield, Massachusetts, where I teach Torts, Products Liability, and Patent Law. And I see Susan Franck ’93 once a year or more at law faculty events.
Dena is working as the sales and inventory analyst at Webs, a local and national yarn store (website). It's a new development for her to be working full-time.
We live in Northampton, which is a great little town. We regularly see Johanna Hagelthorn ’93 and her kids and occasionally see Emily Bloch ’96 and Aron Goldman ’96 and their daughter. Cree Krull ’93 visited with his kids last year and we hope to get up to Maine this summer to see them. When in Minnesota, we frequently visit Kim Kindler ’93, Eric Brown ’94 and Lisa Cowley ’95, and I'm sure various other grads who will be offended by their absence on this list.
Ella and I (and sometimes Liam) do a kids' music radio show and podcast, "Spare the Rock, Spoil the Child" (website | feed), on a community radio station here. Our motto is "Music for kids that won't make parents want to gouge out their ears." I think we succeed.
All right, that was longer than intended. We're looking forward to Reunion!
My Mac Memories: Taking all of my classes from prof’s who immediately went elsewhere. WMCN. Springfests. Living on Dayton Avenue.
After Macalester, I studied at the London School of Economics. I enjoyed school and loved living in London. Before leaving for London, I had met this great guy, Bill, in his last year of law school. Bill frequently visited me from Boston and studied for the New York bar in London. We returned to New York together and in two years bought our current apartment, got married in 1999 and had our son, Henry, in November 2004!
I am a director in the transfer pricing group at PricewaterhouseCoopers in New York. Most of all, I enjoy being a mother and a wife. Henry has truly changed our lives! We learn daily from Henry and from the parenting experience.
This year I have been active in interviewing prospective freshmen from the New York area for Macalester — this makes me realize how long ago 1994 was!
