Where have the last fifty years gone? No one prepared us for the fleeting of time — or did I miss that class? I married Charlie Phillips in August 1957 and graduated early in January 1958. We lived in Bemidji, Minn., until 1961 when we moved to Cambridge, Minn., and that has been our home since.
I substitute taught in the Cambridge school system for a short time and later taught Speech and English full time for a few years. Shortly thereafter, I became an instructor of Speech at Anoka-Ramsey Community College, Cambridge Campus, until 1986.
Both Charlie and I sing in our church choir and have served on various commissions. I have written and performed interpretive programs for the church as well as for other organizations to which I belong. I have done some storytelling at a few festivals and enjoy writing, reading, needlepoint and golf. In 1983-84, I was privileged to serve the Minnesota Order of the Eastern Star as its Grand Chaplain.
The greatest accomplishments that Charlie and I share are our three sons who we feel proud to have raised to be good citizens of the world. And they, in turn, have given us six grandchildren! What more can we ask for? Charlie retired from our drugstore in 2000 and since then we have been "snowbirds." We winter in Arizona; sing in our respective barbershop choruses; Charlie golfs and I write. Life is good. I am eager to reminisce with my fellow classmates in June! Hats off to our great reunion committee!
