Following graduation, I moved to Kansas and worked for the Boy Scouts. In 1961, I moved to Anoka Minnesota to teach History. I completed my master’s at Mac in 1962 and served as a teacher, coach and principal in Anoka until 1974 when I moved to New Mexico to complete a Ph.D. and work for the state. My ‘Remember When’ stories:
· Handling local press with Ivan Burg
· Long Mac Weekly nights
· Winter commuting
After three years in the Army, I earned a master's degree in mass communication at the University of Iowa. Started in community journalism in Chicago area, detoured to PR and association management for 20 years, then returned to communication journalism 14 years ago. Married Karen, a surgical nurse; we have three children and six grandchildren ranging in age from 15 to 18 months. I continue to pursue music (choral singing and keyboard) in local church and two choirs at Sun City Huntley, Ill., where we have lived for eight years. Macalester prepared me well for journalistic career, which I never would have left in midstream.
