I was a teacher of social studies and phy-ed., and a driver education instructor. I coached and officiated basketball, football, baseball and track.  I taught for 35 years — eight years at Milan, Minn., schools and 27 years at Litchfield, Minn., schools. I have been married to Ardella for 53 years. We raised three boys — Steven, Michael and Daniel.

When I started at Macalester in 1954, I was a Korean War Veteran just out of the army.  Macalester administrators and professors did an excellent job of providing help in adjusting to civilian and college life. I particularly remember the extra help from Dr. Theodore Mitau.
