My ‘Remember When’ story:
· Marlys's Mom's caramels
The summer following graduation from Macalester, I got a job working at Mt. Rushmore. In the fall, I started teaching kindergarten in Rapid City, S.D. Fast forward 35 years later and I became eligible for retirement.
While at Macalester, I was enrolled in the Miss Woods Program which specialized in the training and education of kindergarten teachers. That background served me well since most of my career was involved in teaching kindergarten.
During my second year in Rapid City, I married a rancher/gardener, Don Konechne, and the rest is history. Our three sons were part of our ranch and truck garden operation until their college years. Our ranch is located a few miles outside of Rapid City. While close to city conveniences, it still provides the serenity of rural living. It is an ideal site to spend our golden years.
