Upon graduating from Mac, my first teaching assignment was in Garden Grove, a suburb of Los Angeles. What a culture shock! From there, I agreed to teach in Okinawa (the best two years of my life), and then in Germany where I met and married Dan. Army life kept us on the move, but we finally settled in Altanta, Ga., where I gradually realized I needed a greater anchor in my life. Attending Candler School of Theology at Emory University was a dynamic experience, and by osmosis, it reached Dan also.
Macalester — and Candler — have helped me to open my eyes and deal with the surprises, about-faces, upsets and enriching joys which can appear around every corner. Working on our 50-Year Reunion Committee has been a joy. Attend our June 2008 reunion and share the highlights with your classmates!
