It’s been a full circle. I started in Grand Marais, Minn., and when we could retire in 1995, that’s where we went – a decision that was a very good one!
But, in between, I married, had three children and a divorce. Later a remarriage, two stepchildren (five teenagers)! My husband Ernie called it a halfway house! It was wild! And fun, now that I’m looking back.
Most of my life after Mac occurred in Connecticut. I received an M.A. in sociology from U. Conn., was a state college instructor, etc., and eventually worked 25 years for the State of Connecticut’s Judicial Department.
It was when I returned to Minnesota, however, that I found a job I really love. For the last 10 years, I’ve been part-time director of the Cook County Historical Society Museum.
When we returned to Minnesota, Nancy Slaughter asked me to be on the 40th reunion committee. Since then, I also have been on the 45th and now the 50th. It has been an absolute delight to meet with people I knew well and those I didn’t. We are such a fun group! Ernie enjoyed our reunions almost as much as I, and had looked forward to the 50th. That wasn’t to be — he died last September. Wouldn’t it be nice if we all could get together once again?
