James Berquist
Passed away July 13, 1987
Written by his wife, Florence Berquist.
Jim shared many good memories of his time at Mac. He spoke of good friends, sports, fun times and was happy that his degree led him to his teaching job at Hinckley High School. His entire teaching career was in the Hinckley school system as a teacher, coach and athletic director. Jim left an indelible mark on the Hinckley community and school. The new football/track field was named “Berquist Field” in his honor. Jim died July 13, 1987 of a heart attack after spending the day working at his hunting land with his older son. Fishing, hunting and working at his hunting shack was how he chose to spend his free time.
I came to Hinckley as a business education teacher; we married in 1964 and had two sons and two daughters. Jim was a wonderful husband and dad and I can’t help but believe he would have enjoyed retirement hunting, fishing and time with his grandchildren.
I hope you have a wonderful time renewing old friendships with your classmates of 50 years ago.
