Mary Elise Simonson Halvorson married Dan Halvorson July 19, 1958. They made their home in Bismarck, N.D., where she raised three daughters. Elise was very active in her daughters’ activities, such as Girl Scout leader, Sunday School teaching and other activities that her daughters were involved with. She served as an elder of the Presbyterian Church. Elise was very proud of her four grandchildren and loved the Christmas season when all of her family would get together. In the time after her children were raised, Elise traveled the world with her sister-in-law, brother-in-law and husband. These trips included China, Australia, Turkey, most of the European countries and her favorite Norway. These trips were self-arranged and usually involved renting a car and traveling the countryside. Elise died January 20, 2006, and is missed by her friends and family.
