Let them eat cake
By Carol Carlson Pagel
I remember delivering a 21st birthday cake to Bruce Pagel who lived in the tunnel between Wally and Bigelow halls. Bruce and Jerry Drier, basketball players, were dorm custodians on a work scholarship.
I was nervous about being seen going into their room (with a cake) since they were not there. (I'd probably have been more nervous if they were there!) Anyway, I am still delivering birthday cakes to Bruce 50 years later!
Married life
By Nancy Dahl
Bob, class of 1957, and I were married in the chapel at the Macalester Student Union and had our reception there. We were married by Dr. Jamison who was the head of the Religion Department. We then lived in married student housing in the unit on the corner of St. Claire and Snelling, across from the St. Claire Broiler.
Waiting for Marijo
By Gary H. Hickok
I cooled my heels outside the Off-Campus Women's Lounge waiting for a special someone.
Being thankful for friends and loved ones
By Marijo Hunt Hickok
I remember marrying Gary at Thanksgiving time of our senior year and all the fun we had getting ready for that event. Many of you, class of '59, helped us. Fifty years later, I can say it was a good decision!
The art of romance
By Allan H. Taylor
Another highlight was meeting Emily in Tony Caponi's art class. We studied a little, dated a little, and got married in June 1960.
A major change
By Valerie Hettenhausen Tellor
A thank you to Macalester, a change in major to Phys. Ed. for the better, as my husband Robin was able to pop into my life. Macalester was indeed the foundation in making everything fall into place. Mac friends last a lifetime.
