"Telling Stories" is the major theme for Macalester's first LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) Reunion weekend, Sept. 29 to Oct. 1, 2006.
In keeping with this theme, the LGBT Reunion Planning Committee is collecting oral histories to celebrate the many skills, talents and strengths of Macalester's LGBT alumni and to weave the stories of LGBT alumni into the college's larger history.
Whether their experiences as lesbian, gay, bisexual and/or transgender alumni were positive or negative, riddled with support or struggle, a major theme runs throughout: Macalester has impacted how these alumni understand themselves in relation to their sexual/gender identity and these alumni, through the following interviews, show how they, in turn, have impacted Macalester College.
This project has been, in large part, the result of support from Mark Meinke ’70 whose expertise has helped shape the questions and flow of these recorded interviews.
