Amazon Journey
January 13-22, 2006

Enjoy the journey on the impeccable La Amatista, an intimate ship that evokes the 19th century's age of exploration while providing 21st-century amenities. In this atmosphere of adventure and romance, venture beyond the Amazon's legendary headwaters at the confluence of the Río Ucayali and the Río Marañón and into a region of remote jungles and black-water rivers. From the ship, our expert naturalist guides will lead you on hikes through lush rainforests and on special excursions down some of the Amazon's secretive, sinuous tributaries to visit local tribal villages and observe unique wildlife including pink river dolphins, capuchin monkeys and three-toed sloths.

Finally, experience Peru's historic and cosmopolitan capital, Lima, and take advantage of a special, optional post-tour program to legendary Machu Picchu, the mystical lost city of the Incas. On this program, you will travel to Cuzco to board a train for the scenic journey through the Andes to the sacred city of the Incas.
