Faculty
Gary Erickson, visiting assistant professor, teaches ceramics. His organic-abstract sculpture was recently exhibited at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, the Southwest School of Art and Craft in San Antonio, Texas, and Gallery 101 in Melbourne, Australia. He was awarded a 1999 Minnesota State Arts Board Fellowship and a 1999 McKnight Artist Fellowship for Ceramic Artists. A feature article about his sculpture appeared in the September 1999 issue of Ceramics Monthly and previously in Ceramics: Art and Perception. His work is in several private and corporate collections including the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution.
Ruthann Godollei, professor, teaches printmaking, 2-D Design and Senior Seminar. Her prints reflect concerns about social justice such as a commission by the Minneapolis Family Housing Fund for prints on the theme of homelessness. In 2003 her work was in several touring shows, from the Jubilee exhibit of the Frans Masereel Printmaking Center in Belgium to “Shock & Awe,” an international group xerographic project on the war in Iraq.
Mary Hark, adjunct professor, teaches fibers. She has shown her work at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, the Minnesota Museum of Art, Artemisia Gallery in Chicago, the Minnesota Center for Book Arts in Minneapolis and Penland School of Arts and Crafts in North Carolina, among others. She facilitates the partnership between the Macalester College Art Department and the Sheridan Global Arts Magnet, an inner city elementary school. She recently completed a commissioned art work for the Minnesota Children’s Museum. She has been awarded a residency at the Ragdale Foundation, Forest Lake, Ill.
Stanton Sears, associate professor, teaches sculpture and 3-D design. His professional career includes commissioned public sculpture and the design of urban spaces in towns and cities throughout the United States. He and his collaborative partner Andrea Myklebust ’95 (Minneapolis, Minn.) recently completed “The Hamilton Gateway,” a 66-foot-tall sculpture and lantern at a new county courthouse and government building in Hamilton, Ohio, and “Weatherdance,” a fountain and plaza in Iowa City, Iowa. His mosaic floor designs can be seen at the Minneapolis – St. Paul International Airport, and works in progress include commissions for the Hennepin County Government Center and the Mayo Clinic.
