This course explores the visual skills required to measure and understand spatial relationships in order to reconstruct on paper what you have seen. We will travel out into surrounding environments to draw landscape and architecture. We will use indoor spaces, study perspective, mapping and the figure. The class will also look at traditions of how and why this is done. The course will cover a variety of approaches to drawing, including working from the figure as a way to develop a subtle eye in response to a complex form.
