Gabriele Ellertson died Sunday December 4, 2005 after a long battle with cancer. She was an Adjunct Professor in the Macalester College Art Department. Ellertson taught beginning and advanced drawing with rigor and care to hundreds of students over sixteen years. She received BFA and MFA degrees from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. Ellertson completed most of her undergraduate work in art and art history at the University of South Africa, Pretoria and received a diploma in medical technology from the University of Marburg, Germany. Ellertson also taught at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, Concordia College, Moorhead, MN and Hamline University, St. Paul, MN. Solo shows included Concordia College, Moorhead, MN, 2000, Macalester College Art Gallery, St. Paul, MN, 1999, "Skinned and Scanned" at the Rochester Art Center, Rochester, MN, 1995 and "Treatment Plan" at the MAEP Gallery in the Minneapolis Institute of Art, 1994.
