Winston Kyan, Assistant Professor, Art History


 

 

Dr. Kyan teaches Asian Art History at Macalester College in St. Paul, MN. He received both PhD and MA degrees in Art History from the University of Chicago, and a BA from Brown University in Comparative Literature.

His current research focuses on the cultural reception of Buddhist art in medieval China and its role in shaping Chinese identity. He joined the Art Department in 2005, where he teaches courses on the arts of China, Japan and the Silk Road. His courses are cross-listed with Asian Languages & Cultures.
