It was open to students in all levels of Japanese and students in all levels of Chinese. Students were judged within their own level. Poems were judged by Chinese teachers and tutors, and Japanese teachers and tutors. Each poem was judged in categories such as content, creativity, and accuracy. Everyone who entered received a prize! First-, second- and third-place finishers received monetary awards.
