Arjun Guneratne, associate professor of anthropology, teaches courses on nationalism, the development of anthropological theory, South Asia, development anthropology and environmental anthropology. His current research is on globalization and the emergence of environmentalism in Sri Lanka. He is the author of Many Tongues, One People: The Making of Tharu Identity in Nepal, published by Cornell University Press, and a number of articles and book chapters. He is the chair of the South Asia Council of the Association for Asian Studies.
